PAL Extrusions, a division of the PAL Group, has 20 years’ experience in the production of rigid and flexible plastic profiles to meet a variety of end user requirements. With in-house design and toolmaking facilities, PAL specialises in producing bespoke profiles for clients, including tight tolerance specification, tambour shutter doors and medical supply sectors.

Polymer Cluster Actions

Provided the services of PTL, the polymer training organisation, to develop the understanding, knowledge and skills of staff – setters, team leaders and senior managers. Employees were all offered to opportunity firstly to better understand their roles and where improvements could be made and then to develop the skills needed move levels of quality and production upwards.

Key highlights

Following the introduction of the training programme, Mike Harrison, Group Manufacturing Director of PAL Extrusions, noted that not only had employees’ skill levels increased but there was also a big improvement in staff morale.

“It’s rewarding to see the motivation and commitment of our staff”, says Mike. “Our new levels of quality and service have made the company more profitable - and we’re receiving approaches from plenty of people who want to do business with us.”

Training for PAL team leaders is ongoing to ensure the company’s skills are kept up to date and PAL continues its relationship with the Polymer Cluster in the development of a new fencing system with a recyclable component.
