Quotation

“As the company has grown different needs have evolved; it’s been essential to establish specialist skills and train staff to make sure they are kept up to date. Over the past 11 years the company’s sales have grown 50% year-on-year – without the training input provided via the Polymer Cluster we wouldn’t have been able to keep up our current service level and product quality.”

Stephen Wright, Managing Director, Plastic Bottle Supplies Ltd

Key highlights

Stephen Wright, Managing Director, founded the business 11 years ago and did everything himself – now Plastic Bottle Supplies Ltd employs 38 people.

Recognising the need to recruit and retain staff with the specialist skills to provide the products and service to meet his customers’ needs, Stephen’s philosophy is to keep the business growing through the development of his staff. The company now keeps the key, up-to-date skills required by the industry in-house.

Additional outcomes

As Managing Director of the company, Stephen Wright is now able to step back from day-to-day operations in order to devote more time to developing new products and business opportunities. He is currently taking advantage of the DMLS techniques available at the University of Wolverhampton’s Innovative Product Development Centre to develop a new moulding tool with enhanced cooling characteristics, which he will test for use in high speed blow-moulding manufacturing.
